One of Rush’ classic songs, and also one of my favourite.
All this machinery making modern music
Can still be open-hearted.
Not so coldly charted, it’s really just a question
Of your honesty, yeah, your honesty.
One likes to believe in the freedom of music,
But glittering prizes and endless compromises
Shatter the illusion of integrity.
This song hits the nail on the wall about honesty & integrity, 2 things that are probably getting rare at today’s music industry, where “goods songs” are usually not anywhere as good as they were used to be. Yeah, blame the people who abuse the technology to produce crappy songs (talentless peoples + cool $$$ technologies = great artists!), and capitalism which causes the decline of soul/passion in music itself.
